This happened today in our JV game and I was pretty sure of the call but wasn't positive. With a runner on 1st and 2 out the batter pops one up between 1st and 2nd. The pitcher assuming the catch will be made starts jogging to the dugout and runs directly into the BR going to first and knocks him down. The 1B makes the catch to end the inning. Obstruction or not?

You may protect him to where you though he would safely make it. Beyond first, however, and you might as well set up a stage for the defensive coach.

Depends.

If he continues, I read the result. If he is tagged out on a close play at second, I would probably rule that absent the obstruction, he would have made it there, and award him second. If the ball gets to second two steps ahead of him, he's on his own. If he stops at first, that's all he gets.
