Would like to ask for a rule interpretation on a big situation that happened tonight in a state high school baseball game. Batting team had runners on 1st and 2nd, one out. Pitcher in the stretch spins and fakes a throw toward the shortstop covering 2nd base runner dives back to the bag, second baseman dives at the ball like it goes past him, and the right fielder and center fielder go running like the ball is going between them. All the fielders are screaming GO,GO,GO while this is going on. Runner on second bites and starts to go to third base. Pitcher actually tags him out.
I came on here and looked for similar situations, knowing that FED rules don't allow fake tags. I found a post about a play at third base being an obstruction violation. Does the same apply here?

First, there was no fake tag.

However, FED does recognize "verbal" obstruction.(FED 2-22-1) The fielders screaming GO, GO, GO, could have been ruled verbal obstruction if the umpire adjudges that it "hindered the runner or changed the pattern of play."

agreed 100%..........absent that possible obstruction call, this is a legal decoy......
