Does the WWBA Underclass in Fr Myers get the same visibility as the Jupiter event? Which is the appropriate place for a team primarily comprised of 2013s, with one 2014 and one 2012? I am assuming by junior year they would want to go to Jupiter but I welcome the good advice from this group.

Never been to either, but based on my observations from this sight there is nothing that compares to Jupiter in terms of exposure. That being said all of the best players in the nation will be there so it may be harder for some kids to stand out because they are simply not as talented as some of the others.

The Underclass in Fort Myers seems like it is the precursor to the WWBA 17u tournament the following July. What I mean by that is that the 2010 WWBA underclass had pretty much all of the top 2012s in the nation and some very good 2013s, just as the WWBA 17u taking place next week will have all of the top 2012s and some very good 2013s. There will be alot of scouts at the underclass, but not as many as Jupiter and the games are spread out over many diffferent stadiums as oppossed to in Jupiter, where the whole thing takes place in the same complex. There is also a bettter chance of your players standing out at the underclass because of the lower overall talent level.
In my opinion, it really doesn't matter where the "most" scouts are. If that's what you're asking, the clear answer is Jupiter.

If I've learned one thing, it only matters where the coaches are that the players have had previous contact with.

That said, odds are, "your" sons coach will be at Jupiter. He'll only come watch your son if you have steady communication with him re: your son's interest in playing for him, and the team's schedule while in Jupiter.

Unless your kid is a superstud don't count on being discovered anywhere. Just work on cultivating the relationship.
kv5137,

The Underclass has grown a lot and it is heavily covered by colleges. However, I have to disagree with part of what you stated. It is true that the Jupiter Tournament is pro oriented, but more colleges (at least DI colleges) attend that event than any other event in baseball. Pretty much every top level college attends every year, usually with two coaches.

One reason is because no player is absolutely in the fold until the early "signing" period which is a couple weeks after the Jupiter event. So college coaches are there for two very important reasons...
1. To see and evaluate the talent.
2. To protect and further evaluate their commitments.

I think it might look like more college coaches at the underclass because there isn't the huge number of MLB representation that is so visible in Jupiter.

BTW, I have seen your son play "many" times. He is very talented and an outstanding prospect. Best of luck!

Not really, none of the PG Teams play against each other. So not only is there talent on the PG teams, they will be playing against some first round candidates along the way. I think it is safe to say that every team that has played in that event for very many years has played against future first round picks and future major league players. In fact, most of the teams have had a first rounder, or more, on their roster. Some programs have had a dozen or more first rounders over the years.
