ODU BASEBALL

This was the highest ranked team that ODU has ever beaten. I know I'm biased, but this team has the personnel to make some noise nationally this year.

That'll move them up the rankings from that # 25 spot, even with the loss at UVA today.

Looks like UNC made some errors, gave them some opportunities, and they took full advantage. That's a mark of a good team -- going for the jugular when given the chance.

Now 10-9, I guess the top 25 ranking is gone, at least for a while. What's going on? It looked like this was the year for a hot start.

ODU should beat Longwood & Norfolk State next week to end the streak and be 12-12 before meeting GMU. Eh?

I couldn't agree enough. I've been dumbfounded lately seeing that they are losing game after game. It gets me. I thought they were going to get people talking with that win over UNC.

Has anyone been to any of their games lately; seen anything different? Whats going on with the Monarchs!?!?

odu has jmu this weekend which can put em back in the race if they win.the problem is they may have to sweep to get back in the race.what did they score like 12 runs saturday and lose.thats crazy 12 runs should be enough.

Well, JMU was crushed 16-3 by Stony Brook yesterday...so a sweep by the Monarchs in Norfolk is certainly possible this weekend.

I wouldn't necessarily count on the victory over Longwood. The Lancers have played pretty much everyone on their schedule tough this year, including taking VCU to 12 innings before losing 9-8 this past Tuesday. That outcome could have been different, at least in my mind, if not for a poor coaching decision or two on Longwood's part. Also, remember that because Longwood isn't part of a conference, they don't have to save their best pitching for their weekend series, like most other teams do, meaning that a mid week matchup could mean ODU's fourth starter going against Longwood's best starter. Longwood is also pretty young this year, so they've been exciting to watch. I think the future could be bright for Longwood.
