I have read the NCAA description and know that we get 5 even if it is for multiple sports.

What constitutes an official visit?
Can a coach get you in a game free and it not count?
My son has been told come to basketball or baseball game by several coaches. What can he do and not count as an official visit? Don't want to burn them.

A school can give a prospect up to 3 tickets to a sporting event, obviously intended for the kid and 2 parents.

This does NOT count as an official visit!

If they pay for meals, hotel room, travel expenses, etc, then that would constitute an official visit.

The "OFFICIAL" visit begins when the airplane tickets show up via Fed EX---basically the school picks up the tab for the player for a 48 hour visit

Thanks for answers so far.
Let me ask the question a friend asked me the other day, since baseball season has not started.
Would you let your son go on an official visit to a school/town he might never get to go to if you did not have plans to attend there? Especially if the school you knew you were going to was close and you could do it on unofficial visits.

He might change his mind.

Official visits are paid for by the school. Unofficial visits can also be good. You can get tickets to go to school games whether you are on either types of visits.
