I was wondering if anyone has some information on the league. Talked to a coach earlier today about possibly staying with some relatives this summer and playing for one of the teams. It's really the only option I have unless I am able to play on a local 18U team. Just looking for anything I can about the league, personal experiences would be great. Thanks!

A lot depends on the team. This is a decent league. Quite a few D3 players who are starters and D1 and D2 kids who are secondary players and need more playing time. The quality of play varies greatly from team to team.

Several of my son's friends have played for the Columbus Hawks and had a great experience. Good coach very competitive with the top of the league.

Two new teams were added this year. Fredricks Town, which I think is a Johnny Appleseed team and the Cobras, this is an off shoot of a local travel team. It gives players in the program a place to play once they move on to college.

There are nine teams. If you want more detail feel free to PM me.

Here is some history on the League.

The league started as the COABF AABA in 2002. After the Erie Shore league folded after one season, the TSCL (tri state College league) was formed. There was a north division which contains many teams that are still in the TSCl today.

The South Division was made up of some of the teams that are in the OICBL today in 2009. The Gahanna Rockets have won every OICBL title since.

The league currently has 9 teams. Two teams are new for this year, the Fredrick Town Franchise and THe Columbus Cobras Collegiate.

I know very little about the Fredricktown Franchise. The Cobras are an offshoot of a well established Travel Ball org here in Columbus by the same name. With their connections to Players, that pass through the Cobras, I think they will quickly become one of the better teams in this league.

I do not have any connection to any teams in this league. I just know several players that have been on the Columbus Hawks and several players on other teams.

Thanks

Looks like the Columbus Hawks have changed there name to the Columbus Jets.

The Gahanna Rockets ate no longer listed on the teams page.

The new favorite would probably be the Columbus Jets. I like the name change as it better reflects some Columbus baseball history. If not the Jets I would think it would be the new Columbus Cobra's Wood bat team. They have connections to quite a few college players at all levels.
