There is no doubt that Justin Verlander will be invited to the banquet, however, there a lot of conflicts with the MLB players. Most of the ODU players that are at the next level attend.
The banquet averages about 800 people and it would be great to have more. Anyone interested in sponsoring a table, please let me know. There will be an announcement shortly as to who the speakers will be. It is usually announced around Thanksgiving.
With that being said, ODU would be honored to have him also attend the banquet and be recognized again.

I think that it will be great to have 8500 people cheering for Verlander and Hudson at a basketball game, even the Georgetown fans!!!!
Mr. Gomes is very deserving, Great Player, But who do you think is behind all the Construction?, who do you think does more fund raising and gives back more money to the program and suggest and pushes for local talent to go to ODU?, Number 2 baby, the best 2nd baseman to play at ODU, not the most talented, no way, but look at the Stats, and he gives more $$$$$$$$$$$$$ and loves that program so much. You all know who he is. Yeah, that guy, He bleeds ODU Blue.
TD stands for Tim Druzgala, he is the guy behind most of the contruction, fund raising, etc. He also runs a top notch SHOWCASE team, Hitters Warehouse, I think they had 7 to 9 guys sign D1 this summer and several D3. Tim was part of Bud Methany's last recruiting class before mark Newman took over at ODU. With Tim, Tony Morris, Mark Wasinger, Rob Gillian, Adam Goldblate, Paul Keys,Tim Toll, Jeff Beard and others, they went 52 and 9, Ranked in top 15 back in 1982, Tim Druzgala, has givin more to the ODU baseball program then anyone I know.Lets hope for a big turn out and lets Get Coach Nate and Staff back in the top 20. So much local talent,
Pilot (in disguise),

Druz has done a great job bringing $$$$ into baseball recently. Keep in mind there are many others who have given a lot of support both in the past and current. You may just not be aware of some.
Went to the field yesterday and the backstop is really coming along. The locker room update should be completed soon as well.
Any of the individuals coming to the pitcher/catcher camp on the 23rd will notice the changes.
The full roster of those teams is quite a group of guys. One of the local guys around those years was Nick Boothe.

Hope to see you all at the banquet next week.

Especially all of the local folks supporting Wayne Gomes! He has done work with many Hampton Roads players including all those guys that have played with the Pennisula Pilots. To get tickets you can go to the ODU website for the contact number.
Yankee 1943, ur absolutly right about Nick Booth, but he was a Mark Newman recruit, I was just mentioning Bud's recruits. And Im sure many alumni have givin money to the program, thats what we need, a total effort from fans, alumni, past players, future players, Im Pilots81 cause I went to Norview, thus, Pilots, lol, and Yankee 1943, ur a big reason why the intest in ODU baseball is growing, You keep up the good work, your efforts to promote the program are awesome,
