Was waiting for the end of series to post. I didn't want it to be taken as a sore loser post, because there are no losers when you get to Omaha, only one team who wins.

I have been getting a kick out of some of the comments made here during the last week and a half.

First of all comments about ACC domination discussion. Four teams to Omaha in one year from the same conference is amazing. But once you get there all teams are equal. Getting there is an accomplishment, and now it's up to the best to get to the finals. After meeting some of the OSU players, hearing how they felt how they got no respect, I knew they would take it in the end, despite my ACC roots with a hope for UNC to take the championship.

There are lots of outside factors that can determine a win or loss. Any player playing there as a repeat has an advantage, wind conditions, mega attention, field conditions, heat, coaching decisions, understanding the finals, etc. To call out any player because he may have made an error that may have cost the game because that is where the coach decided to play him that day makes no sense. The point is, he was there that is what counts. Most of you have no clue as to what goes on, eg. why Fox went to the mound, etc. and I realize it is up for discussion, but some remarks can be taken as mean spirited.

I do not agree with the behavior with the Rice players, but it was unfortunate to be picked up on national TV, but I can understand the frustration, from a player's point of view. The pressure is tremendous, especially if you are a higly ranked player with high expectations not performing as expected.

Omaha is a great venue and an opportunity of a lifetime for players and their families, win or lose and a trip that should be taken by every player who aspires some day to play at the college level.

I repeat what Prepster has said, congratulations to the winners and to all the players that were able to experience the trip as participants.

I must agree that Omaha is a "must" experience for us baseball fanatics. We returned last week after our 12 year olds played in a tournament there. What made it special was the fact that they got to meet a lot of the players in the tournament. We were fortunate enough to stay at the same hotel as the Rice players and each one of them conducted themselves extremely mature manner and always took time to talk to the kids if approached. The same went for all the players on the field. My son came back with memories and a drive to play there some day. It was also exciting for them to realize that these players are real people who are accomplishing the dreams that mine is still dreaming about. I tip my hats off to all the boys and thank them from the bottom of my heart for making it a special experience even for the spectators.

My son (16 yr old) and I were there for a tournament he was playing in. Needless to say, the CWS was awesome. My son was also staying in the same hotel as the Rice players (I was in a different hotel).

Want to relate a cool story about Rice as well. My son saw several of the Rice players in the lobby. He then walks up to Eddie Degerman. He didn't ask for a handshake. He didn't ask for an autograph. He asked for.....and got.....a hug from Degerman!!! Some of you may think this is a bit hokey, goofy and quite frankly I thought my son was joking...that is until I saw the photo one of his teammates took with his camera phone!!!

An experience my son will cherish forever....

Thanks to Omaha, all the teams at the CWS for an exciting week of baseball and a special thanks to Eddie Degerman. Best wishes to him as he continues his career (hopefully very soon) with the Cardinals, who drafted him in the 4th round!!!!!!
DK was in Omaha for two trips before he went to be a player. Also out playing in tournaments. It was those trips that made him decide to go to Clemson over pro after HS.

The people of Omaha are the BEST! Nothing like I expected. I loved it there, too bad it gets toooo cold in winter.

The players are more than happy to oblige appreciative fans, they love it. Each team has an autograph session for an hour with fans and we were overwhelmed with the amount of people waiting in line for an hour for autographs.

One of the things not televised was opening ceremonies, and was a shame because they honored each player with the highest GPA from each team. Team GPA's ranged from 3.0 to over 4.0. Pretty impressive.
