Did anyone see that isolated video of Pedroia finding out about his wife going into labor ? Kind of transcended all the stuff he and Valentine are going through these days.
I gave up on the Red Sox out of spring training. I could see the train wreck coming. At this point I'm so disinterested I watched Wagner's Die Walküre on PBS. The previous night I forgot the Sox and Yanks were playing. I watched Wagner's Das Rheingold.
Yes I saw it. It was a neat moment with his manager letting him know his wife was in labor, the cop in the background looking on and his teammates high fiving him as he scampered through the dugout.
Good stuff. I never heard though, I hope the delivery went well.
Also there was a clip of Dustin and his family on the field before the game. He was wearing a cool skull with bat crossbones t-shirt. I want one but couldn't get a good enough look at it.
Yeah, I admit I only caught it on the highlights. They played a slo-mo shot of his face as he realized what Valentine was saying. All the sudden, their krappy season and dug-out tension disappeared for a few tiny seconds. Prolly wasn't even worth starting a whole thead on it, but I just kind of dug it.
I did catch it right before I switched over to the Nats game. That was pretty cool! Moments before Pedy ran off, he almost caught a line drive in the chops.
