While I hate to admit that I was the victim of a scam, I want to post this for any other baseball businesses with a presence on the internet, because the guy who scammed us seems to focus on sports businesses. Also, we just learned that he has apparently been doing this since 2005!!
As best we can tell, his "real" name is David Perotti, although he has also used the name Sean Palmer, and then when talking with me, used the name Kevin Tyne. Here are two links to information about him. I know it's the same guy because the voice that you'll hear if you listen to the 14-minute video in the second link below is definitely the same guy that I spoke with because I talked with him 3 or 4 times. (In the video, he also acknowledges the 2005 case that is described in the newspaper article.)

The scheme that he describes in the video (which is from 2011) is almost exactly the same "pitch" that he laid out for me, and sounds very similar to the cons that are described in the article from 2005.
PM me if you're interested in more detailed information or if you have similar stories to share. Anybody who might have recent info to share about similar situations will be greatly appreciated because we know the office of a county sheriff in Colorado is currently looking into this.
