Hey all ..Got a question.
My son a rising college junior went to local
MLB tryouts. He is a pitcher. At both tryouts he made all the cuts and stayed until the end.
My question is this..When he pitched a "bullpen" he threw from straight ground in the first round of cuts.
Today he threw from a training type of artificial mound that was very bouncy and had no "rubber" to push off from.
Would his velocity be more from a viable mound? Do they, (the scouts) know this?
Another question. I noticed that at some showcases they have the radar gun behind him. I also noticed that at the MLB tryouts they are behind the backstop? Does this matter as far as velocity?
