Bedford takes on Goffstown today in Bedford. I'm gonna come out and say that this will be Bedford's coming out party. This team has been working since sophomore year to earn respect in class I. Last year as all junior and sophomores they finished in the elite 8. Now this team is poised for a DEEP playoff run with a line up that has no easy outs (except mike laflamme) and a rotation that goes four deep (maher, olen, k white, and o'brien). Look for a HUGE breakout senior season from SS Matt Woodmansee, who acheived beyond expectations in last summer's legion season. Oh and I didn't mention Bedford's three college prospects Maher, Husband, and Skilton. Look for at least a five plus run win today for Bedford.
Ryan Smith is throwing for Goffstown today, "big lefty throws hard is a transfer". I've never personally seen him.

Lucas Olen will go for Bedford. I have seen him pitch he is pretty solid and I believe was Bedfords #1 last season also.

Based on heal points I would think a win over Bedford would be worth more than the Memorial Game on Friday possibly more than the BG game.

Hey B Dub...its fine to make predictions and joke around, but how about we let the BHS baseball program do it's talking on the baseball field...by the PLAYERS.

Sean...time to open up the heal point discussion...teams accumulate points based on opponents that you have played and have beaten. Easiest example, if you beat Team A, and they go on to win 10 games, you accumulate points based on the amount of wins Team A has. It is adjusted every time Team A, (or any other team that you have beaten) wins a game, thus adding to your heal point total. If you beat a team that only wins a few games, your heal point total wouldn't increase that much. Now if you are a Class I team and play and beat a Class L team, and that Class L team goes on to have a good season, you get more heal points for playing and beating a team out of your division. There are people that know this system better that I do, and I am sure they will add to this, Hope it helps.
vandelay,

you are correct, predictions are too hard to make when players haven't proven themselves yet. I realize I may have been a bit outlandish with my comments previously, seeing as to how I am not a member of the BHS team, not a student of BHS, or even a parent of a BHS student, simply just an observer. But I have seen a lot of baseball in my day, and I really like what the Bulldogs can roll out there one through nine everyday. But anyway, I'm just trying to have some fun.
Goffstown at BG tomorrow night (4/13) 7:00pm at Holman Stadium. I plan on attending this game any idea who is throwing for each team?

Friday is shaping up to be a rematch of the 2009 Fall Varsity League Final. This is just speculation at this point but it is possible that Fisher v. Poore is on the agenda. I am 99% sure that Poore is going for Salem but not sure on Fisher for Londonderry. Londonderry v. Salem has always been one of my favorite match ups in NH Baseball.

Team AB will be at Holman tomorrow with camcorders, stop watches and radar guns in hand. Have a bunch of our guys who will be out there and we can't wait to see them open up the season under the lights. No clue who is pitching for either team, but I know Goffstown took 2 of 3 in their Florida trip while BG has been doing well in their scrimmages.
Trinity is a little "thin" but they should win a few and make some games interesting. Hopefully, they can squeeze into the playoffs.

Depth and a few injuries were actually issues last year. Some Sophs. will have to step it up for them this year. We'll see soon. As i hear/see, I'll let you guys know.

Hey, when you only have 45 boys per class....it's tough. The past 3 years were the exception.

I'll be rooting for Goffstown, Londonderry, N-N & N-S this year. All s/b excellent. I'm sure Keene will be in the mix, as well.
Kudos to Goffstown on the victory over Bedford today, but the final score is misleading. It was 3-1 after six and an excellent pitchers' duel between Smith of Goffstown and Olen of Bedford. Bedford's reliever didn't have it going today and Goffstown got to him for four straight hits followed by three straight walks to start of the top of the seventh.

Smith IP - 6 Runs - 1 ER - 0 Hits - 6 K's - 7 BB's - 2
Olen IP - 6 Runs - 3 ER - 2 Hits - 5 K's - 7 BB's - 1 HBP's - 2

Both of the hot batsmen scored for Goffstown.

BTW - I think B Dub was doing a little "tongue in cheek" on calling out Laflamme - He's Bedford's leadoff hitter and a 3rd team All-State selection last year who also represented BHS in the Junior Showcase at Franklin Pierce. He also got a hit off of Smith today.
The schedule on highschoolsports.net shows that several of the North games formerly scheduled at 4pm have been pushed back to 7pm games. Also the JV games have been moved to Holman from the school field at 4pm. I guess that is the benefit of not having pro ball anymore using Holman...the kids get to use it more. Hopefully the city keeps up the field.

Pitchers Duel today at Gil!
Showcase League pitchers Kevin Veilleux and Tom Hudon faced off with Veilluex and Central getting the win 1-0 in 8 innings. Kevin Veilleux threw a no hitter, had 10ks, and topped out at 89MPH on the www.granitestatebaseball.org juggs radar gun. Tom Hudon battled him pitch for pitch before being lifted in the seventh for a reliever. In the bottom of the ninth back to back walks to start the inning followed by an intentional walk to Travis O'Connell to load the bases. A fly out got the first out with no damage. Then a grounder to the pitcher kicked off the relievers glove for an infield hit which scored the walk off run.

Showcase League Pitchers Michael Bisceglia and Colby Couture combine on the shut out for Goffstown. Bish brought a no hitter into the sixth inning himself.

7-0 was the final score. Bisceglia was living around 80, curve was keeping hitters honest. First game under the lights can be tough. The first hit he gave up was an infield single, then Trammell had a solid single to erase any doubt. Here's a video of that hit: Trammell Single to Center
alvirne lost to exeter today 4-2 cross went for exeter he had about 8-11ks from my source alvirne's defense wasnt to well. 3 errors by the third baseball and one for the second basemen.

Alvirne will be down this year after graduating 10 seniors from last years team its going to be hard. Only one or two starters returning.

Personally i feel bad for senior travis terrill. He is prob one of the most underrated players in the state. He had a terrific JR year his record was 4-1 i believe and pitched for alvirne in the Championship game. He is signed to play D2 at Merrimack college and barely gets the credit he deserves.
