I've got orders to Camp Lejeune (Jacksonville/Swansboro/Wilmington area) moving in the summer. Son is currently a Sophmore RHP. Looking for information on the area schools, academics and baseball, in that order. Also, what are some of the good travel programs that attend PG Events? We've lived there before but lived on base and he was younger so we didn't pay attention to HS Sports. He's 6'3" 180lbs, GPA is 4.0, plays in a nationally recognized HS program and a nationally recognized travel program down here in Florida. Any information would be great.

Welcome. Its going to depend on what HS he attends. As you know it varies greatly from HS to HS. There are several outstanding showcase programs in NC. The Dirtbags, Cubs, Canes, South Charlotte Panthers, etc etc. The Cubs have historically had the majority of their players come from the eastern part of NC. You can go to impactbaseball.com and see the schedule and information on the program.

Do you have any idea where your going to living? Any idea on which hs he is going to be attending? Good luck

Thanks for getting back to me, We'd love to live on base but the Lejeune athletic program is not great, plus my daughter swims and they don't offer that. I did some limited research and saw that the Dixon program had a good run last year and my wife loves Topsail. Swansboro is an option or possibly Richlands.

I've been talking with Coach 2709, whos been awesome, and some other folks but all information is appreciated. I'd really like more information on the summer programs and who routinely attends PG events. Living down here in South Florida we've had the pleasure of attending PG tournaments and, we went to watch a few games in Jupiter this fall, amazing amount of exposure.
The Dirtbags are one of the top showcase teams in the nation. You can go to impactbaseball.com and check it out. The Canes are outstanding as well having won the WWBA a couple of times. redbird5 who posts here coaches one of their teams. The Carolina Cubs attend the WWBA and are very good. In the eastern part of NC these would be the top 3. There are some more good programs in the western part of the state. Of course your son would have to attend an ID camp / Tryout.

There is outstanding baseball in the state of NC. Its one of the top states in the entire nation. Your not going to have any problem finding an oustanding program for your son as long as he is talented enough. You will be living in an area of the state that has produced some outstanding talent and has some outstanding hs programs.

Coach 2709 is well connected and knows who the coaches are , which programs are top shelf and all about the summer programs in NC. Good luck
