You've got to be kidding me...What a great time for us Red Sox fans!!!!! I was born and raised in Boston, and I'm just so happy that my dad gets to see these things happen in his lifetime!!! Out here in Kentucky I think I just angered my neighbors by waking them all up!!! The golden age of Boston sports w/ the Patriots and the Red Sox, and Big Papi is the Grand Marshall of this parade!! Have you ever seen anything like him since Michael Jordan (as they just said on Baseball Tonight)?
What's strange is that when Ortiz walked up to the plate EVERYBODY knew what was going to happen. The fans in the stands, the players, the broadcasters, folks at home... I'm surprised the Indians in the dugout didn't just head for clubhouse while he was still up! It was beyond expecting it; it was assumed.

Compare this with the feeling when A-Rod climbs into a situation like that.
How incredible is that-the whole baseball world (via ESPN) knows he is going up there to stroke a 3 run HR...and he does!

I jumped up and ran back to my son's room yelling "Did you see that!" Then I woke up my already in bed wife, not a Red Sox fan (neither am I actually but I love and appreciate good baseball anywhere..okay, except maybe in New York)) and she didn't care to come out and watch the replays.

Couldn't wait to hear Harold talk about it on Baseball Tonight. Opps, forgot, he's probably running down his own hall, likely getting the same reception I did....for different reasons Big Grin

p.s. For clutch hitters, and as wonderful as Papi is, I doubt anyone can ever top Yaz in the late 60's. It seemed like every time he came up, the game was on the line, and every time he delivered. Is this a Fenway thing?

Not a cheapie either. He drilled a knee high 95 MPH fastball on the outside corner to dead center 430 feet away. Hokie, I'll respectfully disagree but I can't recall anyone as clutch as Ortiz, not even Yaz in '67. Papi has had the whole team on his back for three years. 7 walk-off, bottom of the 9th bombs, plus a few other walk of singles. Of course, if Yaz hit in front of Manny, who knows what would have happened.

He is the MVP.

Just watched Loretta hit a double off the wall to win it. And guess who was on deck?

Just wondering, who were the Sox planning on putting behind the plate if it was tied after 9 innings after Gabe Kapler pinch ran for Mirabelli? Was it Kapler? Why do I seem to remember hearing somewhere that he has experience as a cathcer? Or am I just imagining things....again.
