There has always been a large focus on our calcium intake as women and the prevention of osteoprosis. At a check up last week, my physician checked my Vitamin D which is needed for the absorption of Calcium. My level was almost non-existent and I'm going on prescription Vit D for a few months. I'm a fair skinned red head who truly tries to avoid the sun as much as possible (big source for Vit D). However, even the ladies who partake more of the suns rays can have issues with this. As a nurse who has witnessed older women battle complications that arise from osteoporosis, it's something that we can be proactive and prevent with a little bit of attention.

So, at your next doctor's appt, ask about having your vitamin D level checked and if you should be on a supplement. Smile
