I do NOT believe it is true that you have to have Four pitches to get scouted. If i were you, at your age i would work on locating my fastball and learning how to throw a circle change. If your having problems with the change then meet with a private instructer and they should correct your problem. If you can work those to pitches effectivly they are the best two i believe you can have in your arsonal.

It sounds like you're smothering your circle change. That should not be happening. My son has been working on his circle for a couple years and it is now a great contrast pitch, looking like a fastball on release, then taking its sweet time to the plate and dropping as well due to the rotation. The ball shoukld not touch your palm anywhere. Besides the firm contact at the 'circle', the other anchor points are the ring finger and especially the pinky on the far side. The middle finger has very little to do with the grip. Anyway, that's how my son throws it -- I'm sure it depends on finger length, etc. He'll also put a very slight outward 'roll' on the ball at release, which is where the sinking action comes from.

Don;'t give up on this pitch!! It's definitely one you should work into your repertoire. Keep looking for someone to show you the right way to hold it because it sounds like people are having you jam it back in your palm and, though that may work for some people, it's not the best way to throw the pitch IMO.
I have to agree with the other posters- a circle change is a good weapon to have...especially in longer games/starts where you don't need to be leaning on your curve/slider/splitter, etc..
What has worked best for me is four pitches:
several variations of fastball, change-up, curve, and splitter...They are listed in order of quantity of use.....I don't use the splitter or curve often..
Keep working on the change, but while you're trying to get that an easy pitch you can learn is a sidearm pitch. That's a good pitch to throw every once in a while to change the batters eye angle. That is what I did until I learned my change and curve. I think it will definetely work for you especially if you get some movement on it.
actually, i think all u need is like 3 pitches to be pretty successful. may be also you should throw different types of fastballs cuz i do that alot. i throw a 2-seam, 4-seam, cutter, 11-5 curve(working on that 12-6), splitter, screwball, and a normal changeup. my 2-seam works as my sinker. i went to this summer league at my high-school and struck out 5 kids(from columbus high scool) in 6 innings with only throwing fastballs. so really work on your fastball(s) and your change-up is pretty important too.

I got a little worried when you said you throw a screw ball and your only in high school. Exactly how do you throw this. If you continue to throw this pitch for a while i have a feelign you will hurt you arm.
