Does a prospective player really need to answer the question "what other schools are you seriously looking at or are interested in"? I am not sure why it should matter and seems listing the colleges could give a "wrong" message.
You don't have to answer anything. It's not mandatory.
I suppose they ask because they want to know where the recruits interest lies.
I don't see where it gives a wrong message. Not all recruits are interested in just one program and coaches know that. Coaches are not just intrested in one player.
My guess is that what this does is gives the coach an idea of how much they're going to have to do to get you to come to their program. For instance, a local D1 school is suddenly interested in a guy that has mainly sparked interest in D2 and D3, and knowing that few D1 teams are looking at him give them the idea that they going to have to give up an arm and leg to get you to play for them. But I'm in the same boat, so correct me if I'm wrong guys.
Midwestcatch, I agree with TPM that you don't need to answer if not comfortable doing so. I'd just say something such as "undecided".
DO NOT LIE though and say something that is not true or deny talking to a specific program if he asks. He probably already knows many of the schools you've communicated with.
