Seems like the state of NC has the same problem VA has. If you go to the 2005 signees forum you will see where PhoenixDad has posted all the of NC recruits to date. Arizona State has recieved 11 NC committs to date, 3 more than ACC schools NC State (4), UNC (3), Wake Forest (1), and Duke (0) combined. The same things seams to appear in VA ( Out of state schools sign more top players than in-state school). One explanation is a lot of talent in NC but just curious what others think. I wonder how many players from other states have committed to ASU?

I might be wrong but I think the ASU program refered to in Phoenixdad's post is Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Because of the scholorship limitations imposed by the NCAA most instate state supported schools have to be successful recruiting in their home state and their rosters will therefore contain contain a mojority of in state players.
TR I believe it is because there are so many quality baseball school in NC at all levels D-1 D-2 D-3 JC Community College. And the in state tuition is so much cheaper than paying the out of state costs. We do loose some to USC Clemson Ga Tech but not many. So Carolina has had more sucess than others because Tanner coached at NC State and has some good contacts in NC.
Hope you NC guys don't mind me sneaking in here. My son signed with UNCG in November. There were two other schools in NC that showed alot of interest, that my son also liked. They talked to him, but were waiting for two other NC middle infielders to make a decision. Ultimately told him that they could sign these two NC players for what they would have to give him.

UNCG, as you can see signs quite a few out of state players in addition to some in-state kids. Asst. Coach Rodriguez is a former JUCO assistant from CA and recruits from all over. My son felt very comfortable with him and the fact that a number of players on thge roster were from places other than NC. He visited a school in GA and "didn't feel right" because all the players knew each other and he would have been the only out of state player.

Fortunately, things seem to have worked out, we have family near G-boro and he loves the area and people that he's met up there thus far.

Now we have to figure out how to buy that 2 bedroom condo in G-boro so we can get those in-state fees.
