I was just wondering how the process would go down if you were to play on a travel team that isnt based in your home state, I live in Minnesota and there is really only one somewhat established travel team to play for and just about the entire baseball population tries out for them, I played with their second team for a year which was a good experience but didnt go to many tournaments that give you the opportunity to play in front of scouts. I was looking to find a team for next summer to play with for my rising senior summer, everybody plays american legion up here and I saw a total of two scouts the entire year who just so happened to watch me pitch, anybody who has gone through this or knows anything about how it works it would be great to hear your input

Hopefully someone on here will pipe up with some more information. But here is my opinion on this...
There are only truly a handful of teams that may bring in kids from other states and actually be competitive and draw the scouts in. Unfortunately unless your one of the top players in the country they are not going to be interested in you.
That said there are folks who will pull together a team for some of the major events. Things like the major PG tourneys, etc. I would be very cautious about many of these teams. I know of some of them that are put together using kids that should not be at some of these events. While they are playing in the right place, they do not have the right team. Which eventually leads to the college and MLB guys ignoring these teams in the tourneys.
You may also want to reach out to PG to let them know you're looking. They may be able to connect you with a few teams.
I don't have advice about Summer teams, but I would say start researching schools u are interested in going to. It's all about finding best academic fit as well as baseball fit
. Then find ways to be seen by those schools. May be w a Summer team, or go to a showcase/camp-let them know of your interest, don't just show up.
How is your pitching going? What are your numbers? You getting instruction outside of school? You must be proactive ESP if your in area with limited opportunities.
Good Luck
Son had a player that came in from several 1000 miles away to play (15u-16u). Parents had to pay airfare, a parent from the team had to pick the player up from the airport, the player had to stay with a host family basically for the weekend or week. It is not a cheap thing to do and does impose on other people, that are usually very willing to help out.
That being said, this player wasn't a top notch player. A quick search didn't yield that he played NCAA ball anywhere last year.

I pitched well this season against the top varsity players over the summer, alot of D2,D3 guys, Im a 6'2 lefty I top out about 81 and yes I train with an ex minor leaguer over the winter who knows alot of the local college coaches I hold a 3.7 GPA and am looking more out of state for school because of that, I have some interest but am not a true "recruit" for anyone yet
LHP2017, please see this website, 18U team that takes out of state players.:

East Cobb Astros take players from all over. You can spend the entire summer living there. They will put you on one of their teams, they have several, which suits your sons ability. They play all the good tournaments.
lol,
why not pitch BP in the Northwoods League. You will gain greater reflex action. Ask the college players their opinion on your ability.

You may not need to play on an out of state travel team. Make a business plan. List the schools of interest. Contact them. Find out where you can get in front of them. It might just be a matter of attending the right two or three individual showcases.
As for playing for an out of state travel team. It was presented as an opportunity for my son. It turned out to be unnecessary. They told him he was on his own to practice and show up for the tournaments.
One of the teams my son received invites from is called "MVP baseball". They seem to recruit all over the country and assemble teams to go to PG events. The schedule didn't work out, so my son didn't tryout this year. Anyone have heard of this team? Is it legit?
Never heard of them but that doesnt mean much. Most people tend to remember really good organizations or teams that are there over the years.Case in point the 17u event WWBA in georgia had over 200 teams. However the good organizations are there year in year out.It also takes experience as a coach to compete at that level. To guve you and idea of the teams that are there and solid every year include, east cobb astros, banditos, team elite, mack n seitz, evoshield, team triton,Texas Drillers, dallas patriots, ohio warhawks,I am sure I did not name some obvious teams but thats off the top of my head.
There is an MVP baseball program out of California, Santa Barbara I think...They did a tour of Cuba last year so likely have a mature organization but that is about all I know.
