You need an advocate. Both of my sons played for H.S. coaches who couldn't care less about anything but the extra check for coaching baseball. You need a summer ball coach with a reputation for honesty who knows a few college coaches. Good old American know-who. You have a good build, but you're raw, based on your numbers. You need an advocate, and it probably won't be in Florida.
Just by comparison, my younger son is 6'2" and 170lbs with three "plus" pitches who throws 87-88 into the seventh inning, and he was lucky to get a scholarship. He hit over .400 in high school, but he knew he wouldn't make it in college as a position player. Focus on pitching.
Thankyou for your reply every bit of info helps. The high school coach talked but didn't do anything. His summer ball coach did about the same. My son decided to just enroll in community college locally but can't start classes till after christmas. We spoke with a coach in Alabama who took a good half hour on the phone and broke it down for us . He said the smartest thing my son could do right now is get some good grades and then call some coaches. He is going to work out, get some grades and then we will see. He doesn't expect a scholarship, it would be nice but he will be happy to play as a walk on and we feel someone will be interested. He seems to be getting stronger and more focused.
looking for spring 2014 D1 option for my son - rhp 6'2 170 84-88. he is a college freshman not playing for his school.
I can help and I won't charge you. I do it, because I enjoy getting players placed. I have a solid track record. Additionally, I'm going to law school to be a sports agent. It's just good business to get my name out there by helping others. I have a lot of contacts at the DII and NAIA level and also within the pro-ranks. I do have direct contacts with DI schools, but mostly confined to the Mid-Atlantic region or Midwest MAC conference.
Feel free to PM for my number or visit hittingpro.com for my personal Website.
Peace....

Those stories are the stark reality of college baseball. Size means nothing without plus skills. Batting average and stats mean nothing, we hear it all the time, “control pitcher, gets guys out, good ERA”, etc etc, again for college ball this means NOTHING. As a RH pitcher (at least for D1’s or you are a sidearmer, lefty, etc) you have to be sitting 88-89…. now days probably over 90. You have to take the process under your control do not expect anyone other than YOU to do it. Have a plan and work the plan is the key. Sending emails, and be in contact, with REALISTIC programs show them that YOU are excited about THEM. Have a backup JC in the works also.
Be working all levels DIII-D1, get good grades. Work it work it work it. Believe me it is a LOT OF WORK, but if you have a plan and work the plan (plus have some ability) you can find a match.
Good luck to both of you!!!!
