Another post made me think of a simple way to position your outfielders called the 'phone system'..

Some of you might want to try it if you haven't all ready.

One thing kids today know is where the buttons on a phone are. Have them split up their territory as if they are the buttons on the phone. In other words; if I am the left-fielder; 1 would be very deep and to the line. 5 would be medium. 7 would be shallow and toward the line.
You can easily position all 3 outfielders with 3 numbers: 5-5-8 for instance would be left and center medium; right field shallow.

The benefits of the numbers help the player to realize where plays can and cannot be made; it also helps him to know where his next door neighbor is playing.
