I don’t think it passes.  Too many smaller schools don’t want it.  Say they cannot afford it and it gives more advantage to P5s

Due to a possible  lawsuit, it should pass, not just for baseball but other sports with unpaid assistants.  Also in discussion could be a possible 5th paid coach.

Crazy thing is, volunteers get paid through camps with no paid university or NCAA benefits.  Player development positions are university positions with salary and benefits, not NCAA.

Also up for further discussion is increase in D1 official visits as well as football grad students receiving a salary.

Will it be a net zero outcome for most D1 and D2 college non-revenue sport budgets?  That is, if 3rd assistant becomes fully funded by the school, then the scholarship budget will get less funded by an equal negative amount?

Does not include D2. This proposal is before the D1 Council.

The salary would come from the HC yearly budget, he determines who gets how much from the pie, the same as he does for funding scholarships.   The benefits come from the university, the coaching staff rules from the NCAA. In many smaller D1 programs player development and baseball operations are grad students.

I would imagine that Individual conferences and their member schools will have to make tough decisions.
