Was having a discussion the other day with another parent about the Patriot League and the changes in recent years with athletic scholarships.  I was under the impression that the Patriot league did not provide athletic monies but was informed that football, basketball, and field hockey do but they did not know about baseball.  Does anyone know if baseball has scholarships now?    I’m just trying to get clarification due to the standard statement “Ivy and Patriot leagues do not provide scholarship monies”

It's my understanding that the Patriot league does NOT offer baseball scholarship money. I know that was true in July/ August of this year. Unless there has been a change in the last 90 days. However, I would add that there is a lot of merit and need based monies at most of the schools in that league

Last sentence on the mission statement posted on the Patriot Conference website:

"Starting with the class entering in the fall of 2013, all Patriot League members were

permitted to offer athletic scholarships in each of the 24 League sports."

So, more details are needed....such as how many total athletic scholarships are offered by each school?  How are they funded?  Just because they can offer athletic scholarships doesn't necessarily mean they will offer it in every sport.

According to http://ope.ed.gov/athletics/GetAggregatedData.aspx, Patriot league did pay a lot of scholarship now. For example, in 2014, they paid $95million total for all sports:

Athletically Related Student Aid (Reporting Year: 2014)
 Men's TeamsWomen's TeamsCoed TeamsTotal
Total$49,009,458$46,218,531$0$95,227,989
Ratio (percent)51490100%

Not sure if how much they paid for Baseball though.
