My son is considering his offers that range from a "private" JUCO D1 thru NCAA D1. The best fit right now is from a NCAA D3 school and a NCAA D2 school. If we come to the conclusion that the NCAA D3 or D2 college is the best fit for my son's freshman year and he does well after the freshman and/or sophmore year to transfer to a NCAA D1 for his junior and senior years, will there - assumming no rule changes between now and then - be any penalties and/or other difficulties in him transferring?

Thank you, in advance, for all definitive answers!!

If you are already thinking about transfering why not just start at the JC and see how it goes, that way no one gets P...O....d and you'll have your answer.

btw, In CA many of the D2 schools only play the Junior/Seniors that have transferred from a JCFrown So your could end up a D2 and not play and not really know until its to late to transfer. Plus I think its a bad plan to go to a 4 year program planning to transfer if things work out!

As of now, if one is transferring INTO a D1 from another D1, or from D2,D3 they must sit out one year.

If that is the ultimate goal (play at D1), one should attend JUCO.

I never think it's a good idea to make a commitment with the thought of transfering later, IF things work out.
