In this day and age, it really is refreshing to see this kind of commitment to following the rules. Although whatever it is they found out they had done is still pretty vague, they are clearly serious about accountability, and that is pretty cool.

My son attended a winter camp at Pepperdine, and Coach Rodriguez did a Q&A with the parents. He said several things that made me believe that Pepperdine did indeed have a pretty high standard of institutional conduct.

For instance, he said if they give a scholly to a player, it is 4 years, period. Even if they cut the kid - he has all 4 years if he wants them. Rodriguez said basically "If I give the scholly and the kid bombs out, that is my mistake. The university would fire me if I revoked a scholarship in that circumstance."

His wife, by the way, is the compliance director for the team.

(The only thing I had a hard time understanding was how his wife puts up with his close friendship with Pamela! Not sure I could sell that one to my wife.)
