Showcase coming up soon at Virginia Sports Complex (Oct 4-5). We had a really bad experience at the Blue Gray classic recently at the complex. Has PG hosted here before? If so, how was it? After blowing $500 for BG, I'm going to have a tough time talking my husband into another showcase event this fall...

Not well-attended by coaches or scouts. Organization problems. A few kids who weren't even there had stats posted on the web site. Some players left before last day, leaving teams short-handed. My son, who hadn't pitched since middle school was forced to take the mound because of folks not showing up. One player's high school coach got an email from the classic team coach praising his great hitting and the player was a "pitcher-Only"-didn't bat at all!
vabaseballmom,

That does sound like a very disappointing experience at the Blue Gray classic. A few mishaps are understandable, but that sounds like the cart lost some wheels!

If you do a search for Perfect Game in other threads on this site, you will find that they are probably the most respected high school baseball scouting organization in the country, and they consistently run successful, well organized events. Their large national events draw scouts from all of the MLB teams and major colleges. Their smaller regional events may or may not bring in as many scouts depending on the event, but scouts will be well-represented, and will learn about your son from the follow-up reports by PG. And PG's reports on players are credible and trusted at the highest levels of baseball.

You will find it said frequently in the other threads, by parents of players who have attended:

If you have an opportunity to go to a Perfect Game event, and your son has the ability to play at the next level, go...you will not regret it. And you may be interested to know that many of the parents saying that, now have sons playing college or professional baseball.

vabaseballmom, My son and I attended 2 Perfect Game events in Iowa 2 years ago and they were well worth the expense. The Pitcher/Catcher event in Feb. was well run and a real good showcase. The Pre-Draft showcase was held in May and after several inches of rain Friday and Friday night we were sure the showcase would be a wash out. Much to our surprise the event staff attacked the rainsoaked field Saturday morning and by the advertised time we were playing ball. Having traveled from Pa. this made our day. The showcase was well attended by players and scouts a like but more importantly everyone had their chance to showcase their skills. I'm sure many others will agree It's money well spent.
vabaseballmom, I almost forgot to mention another excelent showcase is the one listed in the topic below this one. Al McCormick's Most Valuble Player is another top notch event. Its located in Maryland fairly close to you. This one is on a somewhat of a smaller scale than PG but equally well run. These Two are the best of the bunch.
