It sounds a lot better than "Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium." They are not even an Iowa business.

I always wonder how much business is generated by the field name changes. In the Dale and Thomas Popcorn case, I had to look them up. I never heard of them before, so that may have been what they were looking for. But I know the companies that purchased the rights for Citi Field, AT&T Park and a host of others. What's the point? Do they get free suites that are hidden in the accounting?

Thanks all, it is kind of neat I guess.

Truth is that we do 98% of our business outside the state of Iowa. The only reason we did this is because the local minor league team lost the popcorn company due to economic conditions. The club didn't have much time to find a replacement. We are very close to the people who own and run the team, so we decided to help. BTW, If you haven't been there, it's a beautiful ball park. Also the Midwest League always has a lot of outstanding players who went to PG events while in high school. Just a couple years ago, Justin Upton, Jay Bruce and Cameron Maybin were all in the league at the same time.

infidel,

We actually did get a suite with this deal and if any HSBBWers happen to show up in Cedar Rapids for a game... Let us know and you're welcome to use it.

Note: Please don't all show up at once! Smile I think there is only room for 20 or 25 at a time.
PG,

I figured that you were being a good corporate citizen more than looking to increase sales. I can see where that is important to the smaller market teams. This is just another reason I love you guys. Thanks for all that you do.

I was just looking at my schedue yesterday. Catching a game at PG Field looked like it might be a possibility this summer. But, I'm more of a 1B box seat kinda guy. Thanks for the offer, though.
infidel,

Thank YOU, for those very kind words. We are proud to be involved, but you're right... Our motivation has nothing to do with increasing sales. Everyone involved in baseball in Cedar Rapids already knows about us.

We also have 10 box seats for every game. If you ever get to (not so beautiful since the flood) Cedar Rapids, please give us a call.

Hey Cornpop...the next round is on me!

I have been there and it is a beautiful field...even as I sat in the cheap seats.

The neighbors to the east are nice folks too!
