The Perfect Game ID events are going to be great simply because the PG team is running them. They get even better when you add in the fact that they are being headed up by the one and only BamaBomber!

These should fill the need that many players (and their parents) have. The need of an honest, fair and unbiased evaluation of the player's talent, skills, ability and potential future.

Joel Matthews looked great. Our son, a 15 year old sophomore, had never batted in a live situation with a wood bat faced him. He said it was hard to get around on pitching that fast with wood. (probably with aluminum too!) He struck out, though I think he fouled one off against him. We were happy that our son got the experience of playing with and against that caliber of talent.
Tell your son not to worry, Joel does that to alot of the hitters, (18 yr. olds too) he faces these days. He has a way of sneaking up on you with that easy fluid motion of his. He doesn't look like he's throwing as hard as he does. It's because of that easy fluid arm action of his. Did he throw his change-up? When he has the feel for it, that thing is nasty.

Where's your son go to school?

Vtfod,
The ID Showcases are primarily for "identification" of players who are not getting noticed and the "diamond in the ruff" that slips through the cracks. If a player receives and invitation to one of our national showcases he is better served, at that point, to attend the national showcase. Many of the players we find at the ID (Identification) Showcases are later invited to a national showcase for greater exposure. Several already have received invitations to our Underclassman and World showcases who were "identified" at our ID Showcases in Alabama and California.

I hope this helps. Feel free to call me at 319-533-2007 or email me at g.legg@perfectgame.org
It is hard for me to understand why my son should go to an ID showcase. No D1 and next year no D2 if they are held in the fall. I would pay for the ID camp and turn around and pay again for being selected to a national showcase. And then hope that with all the great young men playing the game that my son would be noticed. Am I missing the boat?
Pug,
I've read all four of your post and there seems to be a negative tone with Perfect Game in all four. If you have a problem with them just email or call them, they will be happy to talk with you about any concerns.

I and many here have a great respect for what they do for baseball and the players.
