Ok folks, dont beat me up too much on this situation but i'm looking at opinions as to what the best route would be. My son,2015, has been invited to attend a Perfect Game showcase in Cedar Rapids,IA on aug 22-24. He also plays football and is a starter on defense. The first game of the year is on aug 22nd. While he loves football, he's not going to play in college, however he has been making the rounds to various colleges regarding baseball(NAIA and D3). First of all, my son wasnt invited until he requested an invite,do they do some background as to the type player he is before he gets the invite?? Or can anyone go?? Also, if he attends the showcase, will he significantly improve his chances of drawing interest from larger schools?? I cant help but that the bigger schools would of reached out to him by this time, unless he slipped thru the cracks. He is a catcher. Just wondering if the grief he gets from missing a football game would be worth it.

                              Thanks in advance,

Does your son really want to miss this football game..

The 1st football game of the year..?? Home opener..? Friday night lights..?

if he already has college interest for NAIA & D3 and making good progess with contacts and coaches. you might want to catch the next PG event.

IMHO..go with your gut and heart...

Jlaro,

No, he doesnt want to miss the game. It's an away game against one of our rivals, lol. Yes he's making good progress with the other schools, especially the NAIA schools. He is working out for a couple of them this week. I just wasnt sure if he passed up on this chance if the offer would be exteneded later. Plus i'm not sure how long he wants to drag out this recruiting thing before comitting somewhere.

PG Staff,

I was hoping you would jump in this discussion. I will contact Jim Arp, he's the one who sent me the invite. Is there a PG event during the winter months that he might attend in Cedar Rapids??? I was just concerned with the timing, if we start getting into spring some of his opportunites might pass him by. Thanks for your imput, he will be going to the football game then.
