Our '06 went to a PG showcase last year, got a good evaluation, rated as an "8" on their scale. This summer's high school and summer schedule, with other events that we felt would get him more mid-Atlantic exposure, didn't allow a chance to get back to a PG event. Is it harmful that his PG rating will presumably not change? After a couple of events this summer, coaches that saw him last summer indicated they felt he had improved and as an absolutely unbiased objective dad ( Roll Eyes), I agree, but am curious as to whether not getting back to a PG event will be a negative. With fall football looming, and playing on a fall showcase team, going to a fall PG event isn't really an option.

Just curious as to what the gurus think....

I am with TR. I am not familiar with the new rating, but it should be dated???

My opinion, if a coach is interested, it doesn't really doesn't matter, he is going to see him for himself.

Please do not take this personally, but I think, in reading over this website on a daily basis, there is just to much anxiety out there. Have fun with the whole process, and don't sweat the samll stuff. Smile

I agree with TR and Tiger Paw Mom. I don't think it will have any effect whatsoever. My son was rated a 7 at one PerfectGame event and then a 6 at another about a year later. No question he had improved over the course of the year yet on that particular day whoever was evaluating thought he was a 6. This had no effect on his recruiting or his choice of where he would play college ball.
There are kids that we know that were rated a 10 since the 9th grade and if you look at their stats per season, they would not rate a 7. Twenty(20) and Thirty (30) errors per season as middle infielders. My son who was rated as low as a 6, had 3 total errors as a two year starter middle infielder. Don't sweat the small stuff.

College coaches don't put too much reliance on the ratings.

Like I said earlier the rating had no effect whatsoever as far as my son was concerned. He was recruited by D1, D2, and D3 schools without a single coach mentioning any rating. They recruited him because they saw him play and because of video we sent. While the PG experience was great(good competition at all events & college coaches attending some), the rating played no part in my son playing baseball in college and attending a great academic school.
My son was never ranked and his name was not mentioned anywhere. Until approx. 1 week before the June Draft, his name was nowhere to be found in any publication. He signed (early signing period) with a top D-1 and is playing Rookie ball now in AZ. Like the other posters said, the rankings really mean nothing. A lot of kids are ranked and go nowhere.
