My son will attend his first PG showcase in December. He is 2015 graduate. He is primarily a RHP. He does play some outfield or 3rd base on high school varsity team but he is much stronger as pitcher than position player. Should he attend Perfect Game showcase as a pitcher only or with secondary position? Are the Perfect Game ratings per position or could his play at his secondary position impact his pitcher rating? I would appreciate any answers as we are pretty new to this process.

My 2014 was in the same boat, he attended his first PG event (couple of years ago)as both but then went PO only after that as that is where he will play at the next level.
From what I have seen with my son and his teammates I would say it depends. It may not be clear yet, but if your projects to be just a pitcher only after he is done playing in HS I would consider going only as a pitcher or at least a primary pitcher.
My son has two highly rated 2016 pitchers on his team. Both are listed as RHP/secondary position. I think the majority of their individual grade and ranking is based on their abilities as a RHP not anything they do in the field or at the plate. Both with be pitcher only if/when they play after HS even though both will likely start for their varsity squad in the field on their HS team.
We attended a recent PG Showcase with one of them recently. He got his four innings as all the primary pitchers did and then batted and played in the field as well as he was listed as secondary OF. I would say his grade was not impacted negatively by his batting and OF play.
Hope that helps some. Good luck.
During my son's PG showcase the PG advised that if you are projecting as a Pitcher only in college then go only as Pitcher. The reason is if you pitch well, but have a sub par performance in the 60; batting or fielding your grade can suffer. Rather than be above average you could end up average. That was their advice and we followed it.
