Thinking ahead, hoping for the best, preparing mentally for the worst.   Suppose the kid is still uncommitted come December.  I know Perfect Game runs some uncommitted showcases in like late  December and early  January.   Anybody have experience with these events?  Do they yield any fruit?

One thing to check out is to make sure that the uncommitted showcase does not fall during a quiet or dead period according to NCAA dates. If that is the case I believe that college coaches cannot evaluate players. One way sometimes to get around that is that coaches are 'hired' to provide training during the showcase, which I believe it happens at Showball, where a lot of college caches are present. I don't know what they can say or 'evaluate' during the showcase. At PG, during quiet or dead periods there are no college coaches, but a lot of pro scouts.

Frankly,  I wouldn't expect many external scouts at all at a PG uncommitted showcase. Indeed, I would expect recruiters and scouts to approach that group with a certain degree of skepticism -- expecting to find only a few, at most, players who had somehow been missed.    As a player, I would think one would look at it as one last chance at a stronger PG rating before the HS season starts.   PG ratings take awhile after the event to come out.  So I don't think it's the kind of thing you could go to an expect and  offer to materialize right then and there.  It might also be helpful for fall and/or winter sports athletes who have sort of been off the radar while competing in the fall or winter.

But that's all just a hunch.  I would love it if PGstaff would weigh in on this one.
