Perfect Way To Recycle Participation Trophies

The story says more about the state of sports marketing and PR than it does about youth sports and participation trophies.

I suspect the school would have preferred a check for $500.00 - but nobody is going to write a story about a $500.00 donation (thousands of parents do it every year).  Besides, when did trophies start getting made out of lead instead of cheap steel and plastic?  He should have signed them and auctioned them off.

That's why I doubt it's economically feasible.  Not much metal of any kind in those things, other than a nut and a washer.  But, it is an interesting PR piece.
