Ok, ok...

Since you're being honest tonite then I have one to ask.

A MLB pitcher throws a brand spanking NEW baseball first pitch into the dirt. The catcher hands it to Blue who then tosses it aside.

Are these balls used again during the game? If not, where do they go? How MUCH does this cost MLB each year or do they even care?

So I'm watching the sausage race during the seventh inning stretch at Miller Park...and I wonder, do those guys draw from a hat who's going to win or do they argue about it before each game?

I understand the Chorizo can be a jealous meat.

These are the things I think about in my spare time.

Me too. I heard one of those guys is a real brat....

7 dozen balls are rubbed up prior to the game. what the ball boy does with the balls he gets from the umpire differs from team to team. If they come back, they can't have any dirt still stuck in the seams.

And the 'clay' they're rubbed with comes from a secret swamp in Millville, NJ.

Actually it comes from a "hole" along a tributary to the Delaware River in NJ.

A little goes a long way...it took me three years to go through a small bucket.

MiLB teams have different policies...some supply the Lena Blackburne Rubbing Mud in the umps dressing room and others require the umpires to provide it.
