The Midland Redskins have advanced after a week of play to the Connie Mack World Series Championship Game in Farmington New Mexico. The are undefeated in tournament play thus far and will have to be beaten twice. They'll face a very talented East Cobb Yankees team in the Championship Game. The CMWS Championship game will be at 5:30pm MST and a live broadcast of the game will be provided on line as well as radio broadcasts. Peter Verdin (Virginia) from Paul VI High School in Fairfax VA has performed very well this week and all summer for that matter for the Midland Redskins. Peter is currently hitting .417 in the CMWS w/ an on-base of .462 along w/ 6 rbi's, 5 runs scored and 4 stolen bases. Peter has also been amazing on defense having made every routine and difficult play that has come his way including two catches made against the wall in right and right center and has 2 outfield assists in the tourney. Visit www.CMWS.org for all the latest details on the Connie Mack World Series. Best of Luck to Peter and the Midland Redskins in the Championship Game on Friday and by they way.....just a little side note.....the last time the Midland Redskins won the Connie Mack World Series was in 2004 when another Virginia kid by the name of Brandon Snyder was on that team.
