PG Crosschecker has in-depth rankings and scouting reports on the top high school and college players, irrespective of attendance at one of their events. So no, a player does not have to have attended one of PG's events to be ranked/scouted. Having said that, it is much easier to be ranked and scouted if you have been seen, right? So going to a PG event makes sense. Also, there is a lot of subsriber content on PG Crosschecker that makes it worthwhile.
BBFDad2010,

Looking back on when my son was in h.s. I got kind of obsessed with finding reports on him. (my kids would say more than obsessed!)

If I was generally interested in baseball at all levels, I would definitely subscribe.

If like me I was always googling everything I could find on him, plus reading Baseball America I would advise not to do it. It just adds to the insanity!

A Scout once advised my son not to read BA or any other media coverage for that reason.

Too bad I am not as wise as my son.
