Any thoughts with this PG showcase??. Son is 2008 rhp that cannot attend underclass showcase on 12/29-30 due to family holiday vacation. He attended the PG Academic back in June.
Only enough players for 4 teams in 06 Holiday Open Showcase and wondering if time and dollars better spent on showcases next summer??

jhs,

The reason for so few teams is thaqt the event is held along with the World Showcase which has several teams. Many high level scouts attend the World Showcase so it works out better for those attending the Holiday Showcase.

Sorry, can't tell you if it would be better to go in the summer. It all depends on how your son performs and how good his tools are. Those are two things we don't know until we actually see a player.

Best of luck no matter what you decide to do.
My last message that got edited by the moderator simply said that if you miss one perfect game event you will have several more opportunities to pay to go to another. I host a instructional-showcase event one time a year and we do charge and it's done with pro scouts, player development staff, and minor league managers. I do not see a need to edit those comments. Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions or comments at 850-228-1594.
Ryan,

In my opinion, your comments are off base. I am the moderator who deleted your earlier comment, and I also happen to be the owner of this site.

In my personal opinion, your post that I deleted earlier implied something negative and unfair about the motives of a very well respected scouting organization, Perfect Game. This has little or nothing to do with the fact that PG is supportive of this site. It might have something to do with the fact that I personally have a bad taste in my mouth about a previous series of conversations.

About a year ago, you made 11 posts in one day about one of your events, and then got into a heated argument with a member of our site who politely pointed out that it was "just a little overkill maybe". (Those were the words he used.) When I tried to arbitrate the disagreement, you seemed to be threatening legal action against me in a couple of e-mails. Now this might just be an idiosyncrasy of mine, but I hate it when a business person comes on this site, posts notices promoting their business, and then implies they might sue me for running the site and trying to politely ask them to be civil to other members. And I also find it insulting when the business person makes comments like yours above about the motives of site moderators or sponsors.

In my opinion, you have two choices here. You can argue fiercely with me like you did the last time, demanding that I prove the validity of my view of the situation. Or you can treat the members of this site with respect, and perhaps even show some appreciation for the opportunity to be here and post about your events - I count something like 14 recent posts about your events on the first screen of a lookup of your recent posts.

What is negative about saying that their will be several more opportunities to pay to send your kid to a camp. Our camp isn't free. We charge as well. I'm not saying that were saving the world either. My first post meant no ill will and I'm sorry you took it the wrong way. Last year you went way overboard with something as small as this. Listen I think you are the very best and your site is first class and I love being a member. But we have to be able to disagree and a TRUE forum can have TWO sides to a topic. Your site is very informative and serves a great purpose, and it's not hard to figure out that your hearts in the right place with the site. But it is my OPINION that my comments were not aimed or meant to be negative towards any person or any organization. Thank You for your expanded response and I hope to one day meet you because your aggressiveness is unmatched. Please except my apology and understand that I think your site is one of the absolute best and I appreciate everything you do for baseball.

Now that you've aired me out in a public forum will you please repost the post that you deleted. I think using the resonable person standard that most people would think after reading your post that it was really ill-willed. I appreciate you and all you and your site do for baseball and can only hope that you accept my apologies for anything that offended you. Please don't hesitate to call me if myself or any of my staff can help you or your site in anyway. Once again your the very best and I hope we can put this and our previous incident behind us.
Good LORD!!

I truly HATE wading in on these kinds of things. I see these kinds of threads in here and it disturbs me because they are terribly destructive.

They remind me that there are people in the baseball world that, instead of making their own programs 1st class they feel the need to tear everyone else's apart.

I deal with people possessing this mind set every day in Toronto and it is killing development themed baseball programs.

One tip Ryan, because we are posting text messages in these rooms PLEASE be aware that no one can see the expression on your face when you are posting something. Because of this, (for example) the wrong combination of words or simply a misplaced comma can put an entirely different meaning or slant on a statement.

If your intention was not to be aggressive, then you should to to great lengths to make sure everyone is aware you are not being aggressive, especially when posting anything relating to a competitor in the business world.

Just my opinion. Have a great day.

Mark
