Second that opinion...only time I've known them to be "wayyyyyyy" off is in the mind of a parent who can't accept the fact their child is not the top Draftable/D1 prospect in the zip code.
Ranking decisions are like cut decisions on any team. There's just no way you can critique them when you're dealing with comparisons to all sorts of players that they see, whom you've never seen.

There are times when you look at two players you feel you know well and say, those guys are in the wrong order. There can be a lot of reasons for this. First, the person making the complaint may not really have the expertise to know what they're looking at, and all in all, you can trust PG's evaluations quite often more so than your own.

Beyond that, there are times when PG sees someone at their very best, someone else at their very worst, and they can only evaluate the performances they've seen. Rankings and ratings are a very good system, but no one (not even PG) claims they are perfect or flawless.

Third, bear in mind that PG's mindset is akin to a pro scout's. If one kid is a lefty throwing 90+, and another is a righty throwing 83, the lefty is going to be ranked higher even if their current game performances might lead you to prefer to start the righty for today's do-or-die game. The kid with "stuff" who may struggle with his control has a greater up side than the kid who has great pitchability in the present but who doesn't "project". Similarly, the peach-fuzz kid with a line drive swing and great leg speed is going to rate higher than the heavily bearded kid with the thick body who's hitting a lot of HR's in his HS games, but who can leg any triple into a close play at second. In both situations, PG is working with how they forecast the future performance of a player, more so than the odds that he might produce right at this very moment.
Anything to do with rankings is bound to be subjective. Fact of life and there is NOTHING that you can do about it. Hell, you can't hardly get two GM's in the MLB to agree on the worth of a player.

Obviously if there are kids who play PG events and are seen on a regular basis then there is a greater chance that they will be evaluated a little more closely. Kids that don't play a lot of PG events or are not really evaluated much in the events that they DO attend will either be rated heavily on those few times, that could be good or bad depending on their showing...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
On the last piece it comes mainly from experience with my own son. He doesn't play in many PG events and although he recently played in the 18U WWBA in East Cobb there is nothing input for him so it would be pretty hard to rate him based on the one event that he does have something listed for...

I don't say this because I'm upset or even that I am trying to be critical but rather just using the example to underline my earlier point. I personally like PG and think that they play a critical role in the careers of a lot of players...

For RedSox...the list is the list...PG does a great job indexing the players...will the lists please everyone? no...heck I don't agree with everything they post, or how they rate certain players, but it is subjective. As Redbird has stated, they do a real nice job...and I will add that they offer the most comprehensive coverage of anyone around...keep up the good work PG..
But the debate is good sometimes. I have found that a really good spirited debate forces people to defend their stance and oft-times they find that the reasons for their position on a certain thing is not really that strong and/or defensible. In that case they sort of then have to look at maybe making modifications...

You never know when someone with a better idea will come along so you better be ready to take input...
Our goal is to be as accurate as possible. Feedback is welcome. We get lots of input from people all over the country. We even get nasty emails once in awhile, claiming we have no idea what we're doing or even worse. Some claim it's all politics or money.

All complaints, suggestions, etc. are considered. We actually check into every one of them. Luckily we have the ability to check out most any player in the country. Sometimes, after checking into things, we have even made changes based on these suggestions. Even the nasty emails are welcome if it helps us be more accurate.

Feel free... staff@perfectgame.org
If something like this really did happen, I would hope that someone would let us know. We take a lot of pride in being as accurate as possible.

We have had a few difficulties with Game Changer. It's our fault, not GC's, we will get it down. So I guess it is possible that a mistake could be made. But a mistake as big as the one mentioned above would be unacceptable. I'd like to know more about that situation.
