Thinking to subscribe to PG's Website's insider level.

I welcome thoughts on its value, and or if the premium level is a better choice.

Everyday 2016 attended tournaments that last couple years and was interested in the scout blogs for his particular games.

Is there info written on each player in a particular game?

Will be at the 17u championships in Emerson this year as well

Almost all coaches of major travel clubs already subscribe to the Insider level (in many cases, they use your dues to pay for it), so check with your son's travel coach.  If he does have it, he should have no problem relaying that info to you.  If not, it could be well worth the money spent.  As jp24 said above, there's a LOT of other valuable information in that database.

I bought in for about 4 months during late spring through summer ball and really enjoyed getting all the info.  I then deactivated and will likely do it again this summer.  Month by month is more if you stay in for a good while. I really cannot remember how many months it was to be "worth" just buying the yearly subscription, but often you just want to see a certain event or season. You could at least buy one month to check it out then upgrade to full year if / when you get addicted.

No one has brought up price but there are 4 subscription levels;

PG Account  -  Free

PG Insider    - $60 for 12 months ($720)

PG Premium - $200 for 12 months ($2400)

PG Scout     - $450 for 12 months ($5400)

There was a recent thread about Tx raiders baseball and some comments about taking advantage of parents.  Hmmmmmmm

I think you are confused. 60,200 and 450 are the annual prices....not monthly.

Yes, The $60/$200/$450 are annual prices. I'm at the $200 level. Good deal for me, $17/mo. Can see items that I want to read about players, colleges, recruiting, ranking, etc

I've had insider for a few years and like it.  My only disappointment is that you have to upgrade to the $200 membership to see rankings by class.  Definitely not worth it to me and that's about the only thing I'd like to see out of the premium membership.  If they had a $100 membership that gave access to the rankings, or included them on the insider level, I'd be completely happy.

Doctor!  Local weather man (Houston) said that all that snow up there is dry, so it is easy to shovel.

Somehow that don't make me feel any better!

I didn't realize that many people that contribute here at the HSBBW are subscribers.

LionsBaseball, That was a low blow!  The scouting service is designed for college recruiters and MLB Scouting departments.  They account for 65% of the total subscriptions.  I don't think they believe we are taking advantage of anyone. I doubt you have any idea how much the scouting service costs to operate and maintain.  By itself it is not profitable, so "taking advantage" of anyone is not the reason it exists.  I do know that the information reaches pretty much all the decision makers in MLB and high level college.  Because of that, many players have benefited.

More importantly, now that I know there are some here that subscribe... I would like to ask a favor.  We always have an interest in improving.  It makes me feel good when people say nice things about what we do, but I would like to know how people think we can improve.  This year we will be adding several new features and statistics that should make the service more interesting and add value to scouts and recruiters.  But what can we do to make it better for everyone?  I welcome any suggestions, even complaints!  Please try to keep the complaints constructional or at least reasonable. They seem to mean more that way.

Buyer beware it can be addictive, sometimes I will plan to look a kid up and will totally forget who I was looking for. One thing I wished was a little different, is I wished that there was a page where I could read straight across and see all the info with out having to wait for each page to download. (Not the photos notes and videos. Just the info)Hopefully that made sense.

PG- My suggestion is on the Advanced High School Search- My son plays SS, RHP, OF but when you put the search in for RHP or OF, he does not come up.  Looks like the first position the player has listed is the only position he will pull up on.  So maybe change so players would come up in each of the positions that they play.

I would say the value is different from one person to another.  It is especially valuable or interesting to those wanting information about prospects.  Most valuable to scouts and colleges!

We actually have some MLB organizations that pay a very large premium to get most everything in our database.  That would include the unedited notes and other things not available even at the scout level.

Please keep up suggestions and or concerns, they are very helpful. I promise they will not be ignored because it is important to know what people want. And we know we can do better.

I'll echo my comment above.  The only key item that I'd like to have above "insider" are the player rankings by HS class.  $140 to gain that isn't worth it.  If there were some level between insider and premium to meet some of the wants between the Dads and Coaches/Recruiters, I think you'd have a popular option.

^^^^ Agree - an in between level giving rankings by class would be ideal.
