Son got an invite but is unable to attend due to prior commitments. I have heard that they have alot of kids at this one and that it gets more attention than the State ones. Our Son is going to do the State though because for now that is all that will fit in his schedule. If he could he would chose the Sunshine hands down.
My son went to Sunshine East in 05. Coach Merc hit it right on. A rain mess. Got to play only 1 game. 60 was run on a wet warning track. IF workout was initially run in the outfield (they did redo it for guys later on). The second game was "simulated" in batting cages.
PG being the stand up folks they are, offered a $100 discount towards a future event, due to all of the problems with scheduling. We took them up on the offer later in the year.
Have a schedule conflict this year, so we can't attend.
As CoachMerc mentioned,

Far from ideal conditions at Sunshine East last year for sure, but some very good results for many outstanding players who we had never seen before. Some were invited to the PG National one week later. Without the Sunshine Showcase that wouldn’t have happened. We feel fairly certain we found the right players and they have benefited greatly. Players from the Sunshine events signed early with schools like Miami, Cal State Fullerton, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida State, Louisville, Stetson, and many other top DIs.

Someone mentioned the bad running track to us. Once again it was not ideal, but some 30 players ran under 7 flat and five players ran between 6.57 to 6.67. A few people also had some concerns about the catchers pop times, but 26 catchers popped below 2 flat and 8 were below 1.90. All the skills took place on the field, it was just some of the games that were simulated inside. Here's a link to last years Sunshine East.

Once again no excuses, the conditions were far from ideal, but many players benefited greatly. Perhaps it’s possible that in ideal conditions another few players might have stood out. We feel fairly certain about who the very best prospects were. Under the circumstances everything possible was done to give players an opportunity to show their ability. No question it would have been more fun for everyone if we would have had good weather, like the previous years.

The Sunshine is held in early June, it is one of the earliest of all showcase events. PG held another 40 events over the summer and early fall, many of which those 06s could have attended. Early June is not the end for upcoming seniors, most everything is held after that.

CoachMerc, I have heard there is another option, yet another showcase scheduled at about the same dates, for northeast players this year. If what I’ve heard is true I wish you guys the best of luck and good weather. There’s no question, the weather causes adjustments to be made.
PG,
What you guys went through and were able to accomplish last year was nothing short of a miracle. I guess the tough weather run started at Sunshine east and ran through the 17 and 18U East Cobb Events then followed you into the fall. Through this, players got their workouts in, teams ALL got to play a fair share of games in front of stands packed with recruiters hoping to find their player and then with all the resceduling, moving games, changing times etc etc. It was in my opinion a success. One of my players who is heading to Savannah College of Art and design, met the coach during the Sunshine Event in the Holiday Inn at breakfast, got to talking to him and was followed into East Cobb.

Looking back, 7 of 8 players that were with me, all signed early with almost all being a result of these rain shortened events.

On the other note, the event in the Northeast has been put together and will be announced this week. Here's a peek
