Thanks for the reply. Will all of the top 1000 have been to a PG showcase. He's been to a major PG tournament but not a showcase. Gauging whether or not to upgrade my subscription

No. Many of the ranked players will not have been to a PG event - tournament nor showcase.

Ok, thanks for all the help.

Not sure "many" is the right word.  Pretty much every year 80+% of the entire draft has attended a PG event.  The % on top college programs is even higher.  Those that are ranked we try hard to get to an event. So in the end we get most of them.

It's hard to grade, evaluate or rank a player you haven't seen play.  But when you hold an event that has over 200 pitchers throwing 90 or better, you have a lot to work with.

Hopefully PGstaff can answer my question. My Son is in the Top 1000. For the Top 500 it lists an overall national rank. Is there a way I can find out what number my son is ranked between 500-1000.

Thanks

2wayfuture,

There is no designated number after 500.

Reason is, years ago we listed players into the thousands with each player having an exact number.  This created several problems that were difficult to address.  We even realized that it was possible #998 might be a better prospect than #501 Or #2400 might be better than #1100.

So we separated into classes, top 500, top 1000, high follow and follow.  Only the top 500 are in order.  This is a continual work in progress, the rankings change.  Players move up and down within the top 500 and sometimes players in the top 1000 or high follows end up in the top 500 with an individual ranking.

So I would think it is still quite an honor to be ranked a top 1000 player, even if they are all lumped together.  These are all very good prospects in our opinion, but difficult to compare.

Bottom line... There really are a lot of talented players out there and there is a very fine line between them.

Save your money. LOL.  I think PG themselves said there's a fine line between their rankings.  The PG rankings really don't matter anyway.  PG doesn't give scholarships nor draft anyone.  Save the money and pay for a lesson or something.
