My 2014 son attended the PG Underclass National Showcase in December 2011. For us it was the best money sent for a showcase. It was well organized and was attended by a lot of college/pro scouts and travel team coaches looking for players for the next summer baseball season. Since it was in December there was a lot of good players there who were ranked high in their class. The national exposure was the first for my son and for him to compete against so many skilled players in one location. After attending the showcase my son is highly ranked by PG and is playing on one of the top travel teams in the nation. On September 1, 2012 my son received emails from about 25 D1 colleges and have been offered scholarships. This year has been a fantastic baseball year for my son and I firmly believe the attendance at the showcase and other PG events were a major factor. Now with that being said make sure your son is prepared to showcase his talents by knowing what he will actually be doing. He should watch the videos of others who have participated and practice prior to attending. Showcases can be costly like a lot of things we purchase in life. However this will give him a initial evaluation of his skills and compare him against his peers. People will say it's just baseball and go have fun while doing the showcase activities. It's a business trip which cost so take care of business while you're there. Play on your Xbox if you want to have fun. I wish your son the best and good luck!
This is an event my son would like to attend but I'm concerned that he cant be in his best baseball shape with the NE winter coming soon. We have some very large complexes to work in during the winter but it can be tough to get more than a few hours per week for live fielding work with everyone trying to get on the indoor diamonds this time of year. We'll see how he looks closer to time. It seems to be event that needs to be attended if able.
