Just viewed 2013 Son's PG report. I have a question. One of the comments was "rotational swing". I am well aware of the debate b/w linear and rotational, however, in the context of the report, is rotational swing a bad thing (such as hitting around the ball) or am I reading too much into it?

Also, he went as an OF, but we are considering going back in June as a MIF, as I think he profiles best at 2b (besides, he's played SS all the way up until the last year and a half). Any thoughts?

Thanks for all your help.

With regard to whether or not to go back in June, a coach gave us this advice: unless something big has changed, like a significant increase in speed or velo, or a major growth spurt, there's no need. Just wait until next year. They're still going to look at those objective measures anyway.

I'm sure someone will weigh in on the rotational thing. I'm thinking it's just an observation. But I was wrong at least once before. Smile
I agree with 2Bmom here. Unless something has really changed, take your time. Since your son is a 2013, he has time to make improvements before he attends another PG event. I don't think you have to pick infield or outfield either. Have him go as both. He will get to field both in the skills assesment part. I might even think it would be an advantage as it will show some versatility.

I'm no hitting guru, so I can't really comment on the "rotational swin" question. You will probably get a lot of feedback on the hitting forum though. You may even want to read some posts over there that discuss rotational hitting.
Hey 2013. If you guys were 3-Orange and played 10-Maroon. Then we did play you guys. I forget when my son pitched. I know he was not the 1st. He was #5. About 5'9", 170. Here is a link of him throwing a pitch down there.

Maybe he looks familiar. He does have a pretty nasty curveball. Hope your son did well and had a good experience. Maybe we'll run into you somewhere else.
Thanks Dad. It was a fun experience other than that it was so cold. We came down from the cold Atlanta area expecting warmth. It was FREEZING in the mornings there. We stayed with my father about 30 minutes north of Ft. Myers and Tuesday morning it was 28 degrees. We had to wait about 15 minutes for the defroster to get the ice off the windshield. BRRRRR!!

he really struggled at the plate in the games

I wouldn't worry about that. There are some really good pitchers there (as you saw) and lots of hitters struggle. It's an opportunity to show his makeup. Smile

I can't believe it was so cold! It's been a crazy winter here in the Sunshine State.

I know, my son came off the field after infield and said he felt like his arm was frozen. It doesn't help that they get warmed up, then stand in line for 30-45 minutes before they actually go.

I wish Al Gore could have been there to convince us all about the global warming that is occuring. Big Grin
