PG,  Question to you about how blogs are written. We had two pitchers, the opposing pitcher and ours, that played a game Friday at Kennesaw HS at 2pm. Doesn't matter how the game ended, however the only highlights the blog mentioned were the hits and RBI's that were produced in the game. What should have not been left out were the two starters. The opposing pitcher threw 6 innings and only gave up 1 or 2 hits and topped out at 87 and would have been the winning pitcher. Our pitcher, thru 3 innings, had not given up a hit and ran his fastball up to 90. I feel these pitchers should have at least been mentioned for the performances they had, isn't this the reason they are here, to get recognition for the work they did, win or lose?  JMO

I would think that's worth noting.  Have seen other blogs from same event that have mentioned lessor mph and gave detail with respect to 1st pitch strikes and ratio of ground ball/flyball outs.   I would suspect these two pitchers may be noted in top velocities.  Perhaps there are more comments coming and individual player profiles of these guys will address your concerns.

Son is at event, so I read lots of these blogs. It's clear that the thoroughness of the write-ups varies significantly. I'm sure it's because they have something like 100 individuals watching these games and writing the summaries, and their levels of experience vary.

I hear you though. MOST write-ups capture pitchers' performance -- even when mediocre.

The blogs are not designed for scouting purposes.  We compile lots of information that no one except scouts and recruiters see.  It does seem someone throwing 90 should have been mentioned, though. People would be amazed if they saw the amount of information that's compiled, especially on pitchers.  There are also scouting notes that go into each players file.  No 16 year old pitcher throwing 90 will get ignored by us.

Regarding the original post, that game yesterday actually does have a blog.  Sometimes the blogs show up later. I'm not sure why it happens like that.

The blogs were added a couple years ago.  I guess they create more interest than we thought they would. They certainly aren't designed to mention every good play or achievement, but as we move forward we will try to improve in this area. In fact, as soon as our new complex opens we plan to stream live all games played at the complex.  Every team should play at least two of their games at that complex. Blogging at those games may not even be necessary because anyone interested will be able to watch the game live or watch the archived version later. Not to mention the fields will be artificial turf to nearly eliminate weather issues.  Sure wish we had it last week.

PG Staff, appreciate the response, It was just a little disheartening to the player/pitcher throwing 90 to not get a mention. Everything you said makes sense and when it comes down to it, as long as the scouts know what the players are doing that is what matters. It would have been nice to have that complex last week, no doubt !!
