I've often wondered if Perfect Game seen Central NY as a preferred location for a summer college league or simply saw the NYCBL as an opportunity to acquire teams. The Syracuse/Utica/Rome (CNY) area isn't a very nice region nor a hot bed for baseball.

Would the league ever be relocated? I can’t imagine this is the preferred location for a league. Of course, I'm sure the same can be said of a few other leagues. Would the new Atlanta PG Lakepoint facility be an option in the future to play the league out of? Possibly have multiple college league games going at once? Certainly a nice situation for scouting. Obviously scheduling with HS tournaments would be a factor.

CNY in and of itself may not be a hotbed, but within a wider radius you'll find a boatload of schools where players now have an opportunity to play summer ball a bit closer to school/home. MA, CT, NH, VT, NY (upstate, downstate), and northern NJ: from St. John Fisher to Pace to FDU to LeMoyne, etc., etc.I looked at this as an opportunity for PG to fill a market need.

I think the model may very well work in other areas, and it seems to me the whole collegiate summer baseball environment is ripe for consolidation. Having said that, I'm still waiting for the Cal Ripken Sr. League to expand its horizons.

Actually some of the best summer collegiate leagues are in the North.  I think most people consider the Cape Cod League #1 and the Northwoods League #2 these days.

Awhile back the Alaskan League was one of the very best. They are still very good.  Jay Hawk League was also a top league in past years.

I think the college leagues tend to draw better crowds in some of those areas. I'm sure there are other parts of the country that would be great areas to have a collegiate league.

How would you rate the California Collegiate League?  (Several players from my son's soon to be school play in it every summer, it seems.  So hopefully he may do so too someday in the not terribly distant future.)
