Hey guys, I am new here and this marks my first post on the board. Anyway, I was wondering some takes on some showcases that I am attending. Keep in mind, I am a 2012 grad from the Northeast, looking to attend a strong academic school that competes well in d3 or a middle of the range to below average d2 school (the large schedule interests me).
I am signed up for 3 showcases this summer - Baseball Factory national tryout, Top 96 academic showcase, and PG northeast underclass. What can I expect from these? From limited research, here's what I've drawn on baseball factory: Can be useful for colleges, however, mostly they are a business trying to make money off of the dream of baseball. Some of the tourneys are legit (preseason all american, 16u championships, team one events), however, the rest seem like the only criteria that forms an invite is ability to pay (Omaha "pro" select training, cape cod select training, dodgertown, ect...). If I get invited to a team one event or pre-season all american, I will defintely attend, however, I doubt I will waste the money on one of the lesser, yet as expensive events. Am I right on this or have I misunderstood the baseball factory's agenda?
Top 96 seems fine - one complaint is one of the schools that I am most interested in was on the list when I signed up, however, when I looked last night was no longer scheduled to attend. Is this typical of Top 96? Nonetheless, there are still interesting schools that are going, so I am still excited.
Perfect game seems as if its the best way to get exposure and I am sure I will have a positive experience here.
Let me know if I'm on the right track, or if there are better showcases that I haven't mentioned. Thanks.
