Son is a 2015 graduate of Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, VA.   For the 1st time ever, the Patriots won their regional (Region X) and automatically qualify for the DII World Series in Enid, OK.   Won the 1st game, but lost in the 2nd game and had to win 5 straight elimination games to claim the prize.  They've come so close (finishing 2nd) about 4 times prior - at least once when my son played.

Now the hard part - the school didn't expect them to win and has to find $30,000 for travel and related expenses.  NJCAA does cover some expenses, but not all.

Congrats to the PHCC Patriots!   Even though my son is not among them, I will try to catch some of the games via streaming.  Way to go Patriots!

I see that Patrick Henry has won their first two games in Enid. So they are in position to make some noise. I’m in Grand Junction watching 3 days of the D1 JuCo World Series and it’s awesome. The NJCAA does a great job with these events and I highly recommend that you attend one (or more) of them. Especially if you are a HS player that aspires to play college ball. The level of play is eye opening good. The JuCo route is going to become more popular in the coming years as 4 year opportunities for HS players are going to be much more difficult to come by. Almost everyone looks down their nose at Junior College baseball.......until they actually do it. Then they often say it’s the best decision they ever made.

I’m here too. Kid plays for Crowder.  If you are here tomorrow PM me. The Grand Junction experience has been nothing short of incredible even though we haven’t played well so far.  My kid won a state title and he said nothing compared to today’s game.  Juco was the best decision he ever made.

Saw an unbelievable game last night at the JuCo WS in Grand Junction, CO. McLennan beat Indian Hills 13-11. Game had 5HRs, 5 lead changes, 9 pitching changes, two pitchers flirting w/ 100 mph, and almost ended with a triple play. Memorial Day ceremony, fly over, and fireworks - all in front of 10,000 fans! Grand Junction is a beautiful city. People are very friendly, it’s very conservative, and the town is so clean! JuCo baseball is alive and well! 1999D5DC-5EF2-44BD-848A-BBCB32DE65B9

Was able to meet adbono yesterday during our game.  He’s been a great asset to us parents going through the recruiting process for the first time. The games have been drawing 4-6k but I wasn’t prepared for last night.  10k fans for a Juco baseball game blew my mind.  Grand Junction does an amazing job with this event and I’m so glad we’ve been able to be a part of it.  Hopefully, we stay alive and get a few more days here.

that's amazing! do thousands of locals come to these games?
NCAA D3 WS games don't draw 1,000 people

Yes, lots of locals attend every game regardless of which teams are playing. Grand Junction is a big retirement community and the JuCo World Series attracts them and local baseball fans in general. Lots of MLB scouts and (as of today) D1 college coaches too. Events like these are big economic boons to the host cities. Same is true for the D2 JuCo WS in Enid, Oklahoma. Two years ago the D2 National Championship game drew almost 5000 fans, partly because the hometown school was playing in it.

PHCC is in the semi-finals against Western Oklahoma after defeating Kirkwood.   Western Oklahoma leading 2-1 in the 4th inning.

Your boys are hanging in there. They have done themselves proud no matter what. I think we are probably looking at Western Oklahoma & LSU Eunice in the finals. But I would love for PHCC to make me wrong!
