The Connie Mack seems to be going strong. Maybe the Mickey Mantle should take a page from their playbook. 25 teams.......110 degrees......5 Texas Teams......California, New Mexico, Florida, and Colorado. Seems to be a fair representation of the West.
Mickey Mantle Qualifier......8 Teams.......All local Texas Teams.....Humid but not unbearable.......plenty to do......what’s wrong with this picture. I know baseball is a hotbed here.......but it is lacking in so many ways. The CM is played in the hottest place in the west and yet pulls teams in. Short of volunteering for the job.......the MM needs to see what is being done right. Maybe it is location.
It does seem rather odd that the Firebirds keep drawing the pools that have no Texas teams in them.quote:Originally posted by JAFO:
By the way did you see that CM Pool Play Bracket? Look a little fishy?

The infield at Phoenix Municipal is pretty
horrible.

And 3BD, I wasn't complaining about the heat. I relish frying in the sun.

Trevor Peterson goes the distance. Ryan Payne with a grand slam.

Congrats DBAT, that is impressive indeed!
Hitting a grand slam on that stage, can't imagine it getting much better than that. Is Ryan any kin to Jesse from Hebron? If so, remembering back to the old 9-4A days, talent must really run deep in the Payne family!
Congrats again

Great job by all it sounds like.
Good Luck to DBAT Greer.
Watch out for those Freebirds.( May be a little home cooking out there.)

Something here seems amiss. And congratulations to the little Collin County team on their win!(Even though there is nothing little about them.) I wonder why they had all the Texas teams on the same side of the bracket?

DBAT looses big to Firebirds; USC LHP signee keep hitters off balance. I don't have the exact score but not close. Still alive.

I don't mean to be controversial here but....
What did you all expect? A tiger doesn't change his stripes (ask JAFO). The tournament's outcome should be a surprise to no one. Sad? Disappointing? YES! For those inclined to visit hell next year (no offense OBN), expect the same treatment.
No dount the Firebirds have a very good team -- they do every year. And I'm sure their roster is set for Farmington. The rest of us will have to earn it the old-fashioned way, eh? I imagine the South Plains Regional will be a heck of a tourney.
Was there a qualifier in California this year?
Does the regional have a definitive host at this point?
