That's fair enough, in fact, Zambrano had doubled in his first at-bat.

I guess in the playoffs, I would play for every run I could get and sac him over.

I agree, as Zambrano can hit (and if that hadn't been an at-em ball, Pinella might well have been right), why give up the out.

Lou might also not want to have risked any Zambrano Ego Fallout by asking him to bunt

But you gotta ask...how many big innings has BWebb given up? Isn't it more likely that you were facing a situation where scratching out a run here and there is more likely to win you the game than counting on your pitcher to start a big inning from the plate?

Situationally, I don't think it was very well thought out.
