We have had 4 pitchers on HS team injured/on DL if you will in last 4 months. Main problem IMO no scheduled workouts/program in HS. They lift weights 3x week, and play fall ball with no pitching practices/workouts at all. Shouldn't we at least have long toss routine 2x week. How can parents of pitchers bring up problem to coach. He's not easily approachable.

I don't know if this will be the popular answer, but here is my opinion...

At some point (and by HS is this point I feel), a pitcher has to take some responsibility for his arm. If the team doesn't do any workouts designed to strengthen/condition his arm, the pitcher should research a good throwing program and implement it on his own.

Don't assume that just because he is the coach, that your coach has any knowledge on how pitchers should be conditioning. He may be a great baseball coach, but just not be aware of what his pitchers need to do keep themselves in shape.

As for approaching the coach - that's a tougher issue. Really it should be the player's responsibility. It's hard though when you are dealing with your child's health.
